People may be referred to The Cork Private Breast Clinic for a variety of reasons. Most commonly they are referred to us with a lump, discharge or other abnormality. The discovery of a lump is very frightening yet, 90% are benign.

Our caring, highly experienced, multidisciplinary professional team of consultants are available almost everyday, so appointments can usually be offered within 48 working hours, sometimes even the same day. (The maximum wait for an appointment is 48 hours).
The multidisciplinary team comprising of consultant Surgeons, Radiologists, Pathologists, Oncologists, and other experienced health professionals, offers the best possible assessment of benign and malignant breast diseases in the shortest possible time all on one site.
The Private Breast Clinic is tailored to offer the same day rapid yet accurate diagnostic service.  Our Breast Care Coordinator, Sheila Creedon streamlines to service to maximize ease and efficiency.
Initially the client will have a full diagnostic assessment at the Breast Care Cork Imaging Centre by one of our team of Specialist Consultant Breast Radiologists. This will involve the client having either a full field digital mammogram, and or breast ultrasound imaging examination and or a core biopsy and or fine needle aspiration cytology.
Same day Breast MRI scanning can also be performed at our facility with onsite reporting by our team of Consultant Breast Radiology Specialists.
Our clients will be taken to the Consultants Private Clinic where a clinical history will be taken, a physical examination will be performed and her imaging results will be reviewed. The results will be discussed with the client on that day in our relaxed and friendly suite.
Once a diagnosis has been confirmed the appropriate treatment, if any, will be recommended. The treatment options will be discussed and agreed with the client, whether it is surgical intervention or the ongoing management of the condition. Such treatment may include surgery to remove diseased tissue, breast reconstruction, radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy.  Appropriate treatment will be carried at Cork University Hospital, a national cancer centre, while other treatments will be provided at the clinic
Our One-Stop Day Surgery Centre provides same day consultation, diagnosis and minor operation under local anaesthetic.

Patients will have a full diagnostic assessment at the Breast Care Cork Imaging Centre on the day of assessment by one of our team of Consultant Breast Radiologists. This will involve either a full field digital mammogram, and/or breast ultrasound imaging examination and perhaps tissue sampling with biopsy.

Breast MRI scanning can also be performed at our facility with onsite reporting by our team of Consultant Breast Radiologists.

Patients then return to the Consultants Private Clinic where imaging results will be reviewed and discussed with the CPBC surgeon.

Once a diagnosis has been confirmed, the appropriate treatment, if any, will be recommended. The treatment options will be discussed with the patient, whether it is surgical intervention or the ongoing management of the condition.

Appropriate cancer treatment will be carried at Cork University Hospital, a national cancer centre, while other treatments will be provided at the clinic.

We have access where required to a Day Surgery Centre which performs minor operation under local anaesthetic.
